Your Help is Needed for the ICA Parish Festival
On May 29, 30 & 31 and June 1, the ICA Parish
Festival returns with great rides, games, and food
with TSA Amusements and, of course, preparing
“Nonna Sorgie’s Sicilian Zeppole.” We will also be
creating a Shrine to Our Blessed Mother of the
Immaculate Conception.
So, Fr. Sorgie asks for your help:
• I am looking for volunteers to assist in selling in
the Zeppole Tent for an evening or a few hours
(training on site) and to assist in selling Aprons
and T-shirts.
• I am also hoping to have volunteers sell candles
for the Shrine to our Blessed Mother as well as
Bonanza and Assumption Raffle Tickets.

Encounters of the Risen Christ
May 20 / 7 PM
We invite you to join us on Tuesday, May 20, for the Encounters of the Risen Christ. Walk with the Risen Lord as He appears to His disciples. Come and enjoy the beautiful chanting and choral singing as we visit eight beautiful icons of Gospel events depicting the appearances of the Resurrected Jesus
Help Other People Eat (H.O.P.E.)
Volunteers are needed to prepare or donate food to feed about 10-15 people, but any amount is appreciated. Items needed are listed below. Aluminum trays are available on the rectory back porch the weekend preceding the food collection date. Please leave the food on the back rectory porch on the dates listed below no later than 2 PM.

Pope St. John Paul II Men's Group
The Pope St. John Paul II Men's Group
Our group meets every other Saturday morning in the Parish Center from 8 - 9:15 AM, before most family and weekend activities begin. All men over the age of 16 are warmly invited and encouraged to join us for fellowship, prayer, Scripture readings, discussions, and more. We will allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.
We typically start with the praying of the Divine Office-Morning Prayer in the Divine Mercy Chapel, followed by coffee, bagels and fellowship, along with some interesting and meaningful reflections upon the readings for the upcoming Sunday Mass. We also discuss various topics and issues pertaining to the challenges encountered in order to remain faithful Catholic men as we navigate life in a secular society. There is no sign-up, no membership dues, and no formalities. We just invite you to come whenever you can. The door is always open to new members who wish to join. Just show up, it's that simple!

Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
Week Nine of the Novena: May 19
Every Monday, after the 12 Noon Mass, our Parish prays the Novena to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal. On Monday, May 19, we will pray the ninth week of the current Novena. Bring your intention, as there will be some silence to offer your intention to the Lord through Mary.
On November 27, 1830, Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Labouré in Paris at the Motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity and asked Catherine to have a medal cast. Our Parish has a relic of St. Catherine which will be venerated during the final hymn of the novena each week.
The Miraculous Medal, also known as the Medal of Our Lady of Graces, was first made by goldsmith Adrien Vachette and approved for use by Archbishop Hyacinthe-Louis de Quélen from the Archdiocese of Paris in 1836.

Mother of Soon-to-be St. Carlo to speak at St. Patrick’s Cathedral
On Ascension Thursday, May 29, 2025, there will be a special Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral at 5:30 PM, followed by a talk by the mother of Blessed Carlo Acutis, Antonia Salazar Acutis, at 7:00 PM. Due to the death of Pope Francis, the canonization of Blessed Carlo has been delayed. With the election of Pope Leo XIV, we expect that it will be rescheduled shortly. All parishioners are invited to attend this Mass and talk by the mother of the first millennial Saint.

Memorial Day
On Monday, May 26, our nation celebrates Memorial Day. It is a day on which we honor and celebrate all those who have given their lives in service to our country. It is a day to remember our freedoms and the blessings that God has bestowed so bountifully on our country.
We encourage you not to simply enjoy a day free from work. Spend some time on that day in thanksgiving for all we have received in the United States of America.
Reminders
·Please do not bring in outside toys, i-pads, etc. Your child may find it difficult to share his/her toys with others. In addition, our room is filled with toys, books and activities for the children!!
·We will be providing a small snack and water for the children. Due to potential allergies, please do not bring in any outside food & drink (with the exception of formula & baby bottles for infants). Please remain with your child during snack time.
·Children are welcome to come into the discussion room to visit, please remind them that when they come into the room they are to whisper quietly. Please escort your child back to the playroom when they are ready to return.
33 Days to Eucharistic Glory
Consecration to the Eucharist:

Join the Parish in reading 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory by Matthew Kelly as we prepare for the third consecration to Eucharist on Corpus Christi weekend, June 21 and 22 . This consecration to the Eucharist is an invitation to dedicate oneself to God and make oneself completely available to carry out His will on earth. It is an act of unconditional surrender to Jesus in the Eucharist, an opportunity to set aside our distractions and selfishness, and a promise to faithfully respond to God’s grace in our life.
The book is written in a very easy-to-read, day-by-day format. If you did not receive a copy of the book, please contact the Parish Office at (914) 961-3643. This is the final opportunity to make the Consecration together. You can privately make the consecration when you finish reading and praying with the book 33 Days to Eucharistic Glory.
Bereavement Support Group
Our lives are filled with mystery. In the classical sense, a mystery is something that is beyond our ability to fully understand. For many of us, life’s two greatest mysteries are birth and death.
When someone close to us dies, we are often left with unanswered questions and unresolved emotions. In those times, it is often helpful to come together in a loving and compassionate community to talk and pray about what is happening in our lives.
If you have experienced a loss, no matter how long ago it might have been, and you feel that you would benefit from coming together in such a group, please contact the Parish Office at (914) 961-3643 for more information. The 10th Annual Bonanza Lottery is one of the most important fundraisers of our year and has begun. This is how our Bonanza Lottery works:
- From Monday, January 20, until Sunday, June 1, two tickets will be drawn each week awarding two $200 prizes. Those winning tickets will be re‐entered for all subsequent drawings.
- There are three big drawings of $2,000 each throughout the year.
- $12,800 in prizes will be awarded to 37 lucky winners in total.

Beautification and Memorialization in the Prayer Garden at Assumption
Cleaning and Restoration of the Memorial Bricks in the Assumption Prayer Garden
The Parish has had the Memorial Bricks in the Prayer Garden thoroughly cleaned and the engravings repainted by Cave Company of Long Island. Now framed and elevated, the bricks are no longer at risk of being stepped on, so this cleaning will last for many years to come. If you or your family have a memorial brick and would like to assist the Parish in the cost of the process ($20 per brick), please fill out the form below.

Tree of Life Rooted in the Sacred Heart of Jesus
A Tree of Life, rooted in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, will be placed in a prominent position of the Prayer Garden at Assumption Church, attached to the new wrought-iron fencing near the waterfall. This Tree of Life will provide an opportunity, with an engraved leaf, acorn, stone, or dove to honor various occasions in the lives of your loved ones and to memorialize them when they have passed into eternal life. Each memorial is made out of durable polycarbonate, also known as Lexan, so that these memorials will stand the test of time.
The procedure is simple: for each memorial, fill out an order form, available below or at the Usher’s tables in each church and in the Parish Office. Please call the Parish Office at (914) 961-3643 with any questions.
